The Miami Zoo

This weekend Aaron came down for a visit... and we decided to go to the zoo! It was actually quite an amusing time. Here are the highlights.
Ok, so this is just cool because "basilisk" reminds me of Harry Potter, and who doesn't like Harry Potter, and then I love that the name in Spanish is "Lizard Jesus Christ." Although it does mention that the Greek meaning of "basilisk" is "little king", so I guess I see a connection somehow, but overall I just found the Spanish name to be very interesting. By the way it looks like a snake.
Harpy Eagle, and he/she (?) was enormous. I saw a harpy eagle in the wild in Guatemala, but of course it was in the air, so I didn't know how large they were. Puts the Bald Eagle to same.
Aaron with a komodo dragon.
Only in Miami will you see a street vendor selling Arepas (corn tortillas like cakes), sausages, and shish-k-bobs, just seems like an odd combination to me.
Hilarious... the speed limit is turtle slow.

Camel... I learned that camels actually have two humps, but only one hump is fully developed.
Asian elephants.
This crane has the longest legs of any crane. (Thanks to the sweet elderly lady who volunteers in the aviary for that bit of info)
Just to prove that I actually visited the zoo.
I saw these flamingos just as we were about to leave; I really like flamingos for some reason.
Ok, I did some quick research and everything I found does not list the Metrozoo in the top ten. Does anyone else think some false advertisement is going on here?
