Sarasota

Last weekend Emily invited me to go to Sarasota with her to visit her grandparents. It was a much needed vacation for me. I didn't worry about school work the whole weekend. Sarasota is about 3 and 1/2 hours from Miami. It was a great drive, and we even saw a rainbow on the way home. Emily's grandparents were wonderful; her grandpa is a history buff, so we got along fabulously.
Emily took me to Casey Key where the rich and famous live. Supposedly Steven King lives on this Key, but not many people know exactly which house is his.

Nokomis beach was just beautiful. Emily and I went on a walk to the jetty to collect shells and then we went swimming for a bit before going back for lunch.

I found a sand dollar. In case you didn't know I have always wanted to find a sand dollar at the beach.

Banyan Tree at the Ringling Brothers Estate.
Me at jetty. Emily felt that the fishermen in the background gave the picture a sense of reality.

Inside Ca d'Zan. The House of John and Mable Ringling. Ca d'Zan means "House of John" in the Venetian dialect of Italian. I only tell you that because it was bothering me tremendously, and I only found out by reading a brochure that we were handed.
I think ornamental bird cages are really cool.

It was our lucky day because it was buy one teacher ticket and get one free. So we paid only 6 dollars for the both of us to see the house and the museum. Go teacher discounts.

The sunset at Siesta Key. Actually a little past sunset, we missed the actual moment of the sunset because our waitress was slow.
Inside the circus museum.
