I just signed on and I realize now that I haven't written on here for a month, and just the other day it seems I was thinking that I was doing better now keeping up with the blog. Well, it seems that the month of September has just flown by. I am almost done with the 1st quarter of school already so soon it will be report card time, and I can't believe that either.
Things have been good with me. We missed all major hurricanes, and now it being October, hopefully the main threat has past, but you never know. The weather is still warm, but it rains almost every afternoon, and earlier this week I was leaving school just when a torrential rain pour decided to happen. I guess that is what I get for staying at school till 6pm. I figured God was trying to tell me something.
This week was Homecoming Week at school, and it has been crazy with techno music playing each and every morning and in between classes. As well as catered lunches and events in the afternoon 3 of the days. I decided that I wasn't going to give any tests this week and so my Geography classes had a Latin American food fair the last two days. Everyone should try croquettes and empanadas and tres leches and pastellitos. So you should all come to Miami so you can!
Yesterday I also learned how to make Cuban coffee. Which is like expresso and you drink it from very small cups. There is a lot of proper technique involved in that you need to add just the right amount of sugar to make the foam perfect. I made it mostly by myself today and added a little too much sugar. One of the Spanish teachers, Juanita, who is from Puerto Rico, is teaching me how to make it. All the teachers are saying that I am becoming "Cubutch" (Cuban + Dutch) because I like Cuban coffee.
Come and visit me and we will have guava y queso pastellitos and cuban coffee! (sometimes I feel as though I live in a different country, and I love it : )
