As I have told many of you, last week Warrior Week in northern Florida was cancelled because of Tropical Storm Fay, which only brought us rain, but I heard that where the camp was there was some very bad weather at the end of last week. So the right call was made and we had Warrior Week Miami instead, the kids were disappointed but they planned some really great activities. One night we had a luau, and then the next day we went to Venetian Pool in Coral Gables. The pool is spring fed (which means the water is fresh, no chlorine, and it is really cold) and the walls of the pool are made out of natural coral. The pool has been around since the beginning of the 1900s and there were some really neat pictures of fancy parties and even a fashion show that happened at the pool in the 1920s.

So pretty right... that waterfall in the background you can climb behind. I attempted and felt like I was going to drown because the water was falling so fast. I ended up making it past the water and was able to recover.

Emily and I at the pool after swimming around for awhile and cooling off before it started to rain. The pool was so beautiful, and I really want to go back when there aren't 400 high school students there. So last week turned out to be a lot of fun. On Friday we went ice skating with the students, which was cool. Although I hadn't been ice skating since I lived in Michigan, so I had a little more trouble than I wanted to with the skates. But I managed not to fall down at all, and so I didn't embarrass in front of the students.
In other news I started school on Monday, and it is going fine. This week seemed to go on forever even though the school day was actually shorter than normal because of the construction going on. Overall, I am glad to be back in school as it gives me something to do everyday!
